Weekly Market Outlook – Tuesday, October 6, 2026

BOJ Governor Ueda's remarks on the 6th are in focus this week.

At the previous BOJ meeting, the Bank signaled that the policy phase has shifted, but showed no urgency to deliver additional rate hikes.

If the cautious stance is maintained this time as well, it could be viewed as a yen-selling factor.

The FOMC minutes, due for release tomorrow (Oct. 7), look to be the key event of the week.

If the contents are perceived as hawkish, rising U.S. yields could strengthen dollar buying.

Comments from Fed officials also warrant attention.

The market is carefully assessing the scope for further rate hikes, and depending on what is said, rate-hike expectations could shift significantly once again.

For USD/JPY, the risk of intervention remains a concern.

However, as long as the pair holds above support at 157.50, we maintain a buy-on-dips bias.
